International Youth Leadership Award (IYLA)

This combines the Camp America experience with leadership development in partnership with the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA).
The IYLA programme is a preparatory course that combines the Camp America cultural exchange experience with the concepts of leadership development in working partnerships with the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA).

What is the IYLA programme?
The IYLA programme is focused on giving you the opportunity to build on existing and learning new skills ready to take to Girl Scout camp.

Why apply for IYLA?
As a participant on the programme, you will be prepared as soon as you land in America to put these fantastic principles into practice at camp and really show your Camp Director your true leadership skills. This clearly makes you application extremely attractive to GSUSA camps while greatly enhancing your Camp America and life experiences.

What will I gain?
At the end of the programme, you will gain a certificate of participation, have a good solid experience and will have taken part in a truly unique practical training programme. After coming back from your summer of a lifetime, you would have grown in confidence and gained valuable skills while adding a real enhancement to your CV for your future.

You will also gain a special 'Invite Only' to the Camp America ran Girl Scout Recruitment Fair in London, the date of which will be confirmed nearer the time.

What are the requirements to apply?
To apply for the IYLA programme you must be from the UK or Republic of Ireland and have fully completed your Camp America application online. You must be aged 18-19 at the time of your application and through the summer you're applying to take part on the programme. As with all of our applicants to the programme you do need to be available to depart for camp between 1st May and 20th June. As this programme is primarily focussed towards Girl Scout camps you must be willing to work at that type of camp and have indicated that on your online application.

What's involved in the programme?
As a participant on the IYLA programme you will have access to online learning activities/modules which you will be required to complete in your own time. You will also be invited into private online social media groups for support and connection with other IYLA participants. Whilst on the course you will have on-going support and advice from professional trainers and Camp America staff and will be required to attend an exclusive training day for all IYLA participants.

Maddies' Experience..."Even though your day can be hectic and you could do with catching up on sleep, you have so much fun that you forget how tired you are. There's always something going on and with all the activities you going to and from, the day just flies by without you even knowing!" Maddie - Customer Service Supervisor
